Christ Followers
Bovey Baptist is a community who seek to follow Jesus in our everyday lives. We believe the Bible is the inerrant word of God and contains what we need to actively be worshipers of Christ who is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6).
We are close family, the Bible calls us a body (1 Corinthians 12) with Jesus as our head, learning to make Him the King of every moment.
Colossians 3:17 says, ‘And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.’
Historic Fellowship
Our Chapel, located very near to beautiful Dartmoor, was completed in 1824 but the congregation can be traced back to the 1700s!
Around 1976 the East Dartmoor Baptist Church was founded, which served congregations in Chudleigh, Lustleigh, Christow and Bovey Tracey. The association was dissolved in 2010 where each congregation became self-governing.
Today
In 2019 Mark Godbeer joined us to serve as Bovey Baptist’s current Pastor… and soon after we were all flung into the global pandemic of 2020!
Our church family is seeking to become an intergenerational fellowship that sees and celebrations every age group’s participation in worship. As Baptists we believe in the priesthood of all believers (1 Peter 2:5) and so we all have a part to play in seeking the kingdom of all for ourselves and in others lives.
